Swagbucks.

is a fun survey site that pays you for completing short online tasks in virtual cash – you can then exchange this for real money, PayPal credits or gift cards to spend at Amazon, M&S and more. The site’s huge in America. So that’s a total of £15.
Tasks include filling in polls, watching videos and searching using its page instead of Google. Advertisers pay Swagbucks to publicise their wares or do market research, and the site passes a cut to you. The more dedicated you are, the more you earn, though every task pays a different amount.

There’s a host of ways to rack up points on Swagbucks:

Search the web.  It pays points for searching the web via its site instead of Google. Note you only earn points periodically as you search – searching for things over and over won’t boost your total.

Install the Swagbucks toolbar.  The toolbar’s a browser plug-in that lets you search without visiting its site. Toolbar users earn one extra point every day.

Swag codes. Another way to boost your total is to enter codes for bonus points. Watch the Swagbucks Challenge thread, where forumites post the latest.

Play games.  You earn 1-5 points each time just for playing games on its site.

Watch videos.  Watch and you get the chance to win extra points. You’re not guaranteed to get them every time you watch though

Design and sell T-shirts, mugs, phone, socks, Homewares

US-based website Teespring lets you design T-shirts, socks, mugs, iPhone cases and more for people to buy online. It’s open to designers all over the world and only takes a cut when your designs sell.

How does it work? You submit designs for items, but Teespring does all the legwork – eg, sourcing blank mugs, printing designs, processing payments and dispatching items to buyers.

You set the price (in dollars initially, but you can change the currency), though there’s a standard base price for every item to ensure Teespring covers costs and makes a profit. You can increase your cut of the sale by raising prices, though be aware setting them too high could put off buyers.

How much can I make? Using Teespring’s recommended prices, you can make about £6-£9 for selling a T-shirt, £8-£18 for a zip-up hoodie, £3-£5 for a tote bag and £2.50-£5 for a mug.

How do I get paid?  You’ll be paid through PayPal – to set this up, go to your Teespring account settings and enter the email address of your PayPal account. You’ll need to verify it, and then you’ll be able to request payment for any sales you make.

What if I don’t sell anything? Teespring doesn’t charge any fees for listing your designs for sale. So while you’ll only make money if your items sell, you won’t lose anything if they don’t.

Facebook vs eBay – where to sell for max cash
Local Facebook groups and now Facebook Marketplace are where, instead of eBaying second-hand goods, people harness Facebook’s power to sell to others in the local community.

The idea’s simple: sellers post ads for unwanted goods, and buyers pop round and pay cash in hand if they’re happy. Think old-school free classified sites.
One question that crops up often is: “Where’s the best place to sell for the maximum cash – Facebook or eBay?” Facebook’s boon is it’s fees-free, while eBay takes 10% of the total transaction including postage when items sell – add this to PayPal fees and it’s a fair whack.

Logic dictates goods should sell faster on eBay, with its wider audience.  Many MoneySavers report shifting things instantly on local groups, while they remain unsold on eBay.
That said, Facebook groups are run by volunteer administrators and the firm won’t get involved in transactions between sellers and buyers, so there’s little comeback if you have problems. Buyers aren’t always reliable – sometimes they just won’t turn up, or they’ll change their mind.
Selling on Facebook also works better for people in towns or cities, given it’s all about selling to those nearby. If you’re miles from your nearest neighbor, the market for your wares is going to be limited…

If you’ve skills in a specific area, you may be able to do a little freelancing on the side.
International project recruitment site PeoplePerHour allows companies to list projects they want completed. Freelancers ‘bid’ on projects, saying why they’ll be the most suitable candidate and entering their price for the work. The site’s free to join and bid on work, but a fee is taken out of your pay for each job.

How much? It depends on the job, the duration and skills involved, and how many freelancers are competing for it. The only drawback is you might find yourself competing against workers from countries with a much lower cost of living, who can undercut you.
